No.5 Hill Paul - Central Studio

Adequate but not sure I’d go back. Positive: The location was good for my purpose. On the ground floor, ok to find and quiet. The kitchen was good. Negative: It was a studio which was ok but I needed to keep the blinds down as there was no privacy from passing people including while undressing and in bed. I couldn’t turn on the cold water tap in the bathroom and as the hot water was very hot I had to be careful. Also there was a light out in the bathroom which meant it was dull.

Fantastic flat in Stroud Positive: Locality was great for us - next to train station & short walk to stores, pubs & local attractions. Griffin mill antique stores was fantastic for curios & cafe. Museum in the park also a great visit. Unit had everything needed - large kitchen, bathroom & living areas. Negative: Nothing. Small maintenance jobs like globes & windows catches broken which did not impact our stay & owner plans to fix.

Good value studio only minutes from the town centre and railway station Positive: Great location across the road from Stroud railway station and only a few minutes walk into town. Very quiet. Well equipped kitchen. Loads of hot water. Public car park close by. Large TV. Table and chairs were useful for meals. Good communication with the owner via WhatsApp and we appreciated their efforts to try and source an additional easy chair for us. Overall a better choice for us for a weekend stay instead of one of the town’s hotels. Negative: Studio is a bit shabby in parts - the laminate flooring could do with replacing and the bathroom needs some tlc, especially round the skirting boards. Pity about the view from the windows being the bins for the whole block but they seem well managed. Some other minor issues (like a sticking tap in the bathroom) passed on to owner to make them aware.

Disappointing, not worth the money Positive: The bedding and towels were fresh & clean. Good base to explore and the flat is situated minutes from shops etc. Negative: The cobwebs and subsequent spiders. Broken and tired furniture. The lack of cleaning, windows that were dirty. No one seems to want to clean the crooks and crannies, behind furniture etc. My asthma symptoms were really aggravated. No bathmat in the bath as a disabled person meant I couldn’t use the shower. Place needs a deep clean. Old bed frame was embarrassing to sleep on, it groaned and creaked. Flooring needs replacing or at least some rugs. No doormat…essential in wet weather. I almost slipped and fell. If I had more photos I’d have listed them but I decided to video the problems instead. It’s possible the hosts have rectified the issues now, but if they haven’t I wouldn’t want to stay there again.
